They are just like normal cards, but they simply say what we’re all thinking. They don’t include any pointless stuff like ‘dear’ or ‘best wishes’ and don’t contain any boring and unnecessary images of flowers or anything like that.
Why do people buy them?
There are two main reasons, the most obvious is to make someone laugh and feel special. The other reason is about helping to build a relationship. This might sound strange but I think it does, read on to find out why.
Giving a card that makes someone feel special
It’s pretty easy really, if you buy a standard boring card it’s obvious that you haven’t put much thought into it, and the recipient will know this. You probably bought it from a supermarket when you were doing your weekly shop.
However, if you pick something unusual it shows that you’ve spent some time thinking about the person and what sort of thing they’d appreciate.
What sort of person would appreciate a card from Mr Inappropriate?
I think there are two types; the obvious one is someone who has an immature sense of humour, whom you have banter with regularly. The other type is someone who is quite reserved and quiet; this sort of person might love the fact that they receive something so unusual and unexpected.
The easiest way to tell is to look at whether they give anyone silly cards themselves; if not then maybe not but if they do, then they’ll probably love receiving something similar.
How does giving a silly card help to build a relationship?
This sounds odd but I honestly think it does; I’ll explain why I think this.
I’m guessing that most people reading this have received many cards over the years from their partners for various occasions. Do you remember any of them? Probably not. Most likely they’re all very similar and just say something like ‘happy birthday darling’ with a picture of some flowers on the front or something equally as boring.
So how would you feel if your partner gave you something unusual? I bet you’d be surprised and excited – which is great! Maybe that’s the sort of thing your relationship needs – something different and exciting for once!
