Our story in a few words

With so many of us suffering from anxiety and depression, we need a way out, an escape, a way to safely break through the stupid social norms.

Our aim at Mr. Inappropriate is to give you a break from all that, be yourself, and have a laugh.

My name is Dan, I’m the founder of Mr. Inappropriate and I firmly believe that we’re not designed to live like this.

We haven’t changed much since the time when we ran around with a spear chasing something to fuck or eat, or escaping from someone else doing that.

You have to wear the right clothes, keep your job, be polite, try not to wave your important parts around in public, and remember not to say naughty words or offend anyone.

Don't even get me started on mortgage, emails, credit cards and the immediacy of everything.

If you’re feeling stressed and anxious it’s hardly surprising.

Be kind to yourself and give yourself a break, release some pressure and do something bad.

You owe it to yourself and to your friends.  They’ll love you more for it, I can promise you that.

Don't want to read all this stuff?

If you'd like to be more involved you should probably read the rest, it'll only take five minutes :)

A little bit about me

I’m in my late 40s, live near Leeds with my wife, part-time child and some animals.  There is a picture of my head at the bottom of this page.

25 years ago when I started working in IT I used to have a reoccurring fantasy that triggered all this.

It’s of a little alien chap who noticed this planet while on the way to the shop.

He parks his little space podule on a cloud somewhere above UK and watches these weird squidgy little humans as he has his lunch.

As none of it makes any sense, he focusses on one particular little pink one, and a few shopping trips and as many visits later he has a pretty good idea how this particular little pink human lives its life.

It lies down for a while, stands up and puts some stuff into its head, then gets in a little box and goes somewhere it clearly doesn’t want to go to, to be with people it doesn’t like to do some stuff it doesn’t want to do.  Then, when its tired, it goes back to the place where it came from, puts some more stuff into its head, watches a little light-box, lies down and keeps doing that until its dead.

Once or twice a year it does something 'nice' or 'fun', but these events only add up to a small percentage of its life.

The little alien chap tells his friends about this. As they don't believe him, so they come to look for themselves.

As they watch, it seems that this isn't the only little human that does this.  Loads of them do.

They appear to be running on autopilot, following a pattern of actions until they die.

They never worked out why.

Then in the years following that I've seen more and
more friends, colleagues and family suffering from anxiety and depression.

Through creating a light-hearted and humorous environment at work, I found I was able to help some of these people.

Sometimes all it took was a little kindness and a moment to step away from the daily crap, have a laugh and see things for what they really are.

For most, it turned out that the tangled mess that was stressing them out was just small stuff.

For those who had real problems, just having someone who cares really seemed to help, and for others who were feeling isolated, just feeling part of something was all they needed.

What you get when you join the email community

When signing up to the email community, you make a personal connection with me, Dan, or more specifically, the character that I play: Mr. Inappropriate.

The role I play is that of a kind and generous guide, who will take you by the hand and lead you a to place where you have permission and confidence to truly be and express yourself in a way which is beyond what is normally socially accepted.

I do this through sharing a carefully crafted sequence of
true stories about me, which show how I have (accidentally at times) navigated through these boundaries.

In reading these, you will see what it’s really possible to get away with, and will normalise behaving similarly yourself, which will in turn help you to truly be yourself without fear of social repercussions.

In addition to this sequence of emails, I wholeheartedly encourage you to reply to me to which I will always reply, and can continue a dialogue for any length of time.

This is all part of the service.

I have got to know many customers in ways you might not expect, there is something easy and safe about sharing with someone you don’t actually know and will be unlikely to physically meet.

The following are excerpts taken from recent reviews and emails; I don’t share them to boast, but to show that the work that we do really helps people to feel happy:

  • "Your stories are the highlights of my day, week, month and year lol, I love hearing of the antics you got up to x."

  • “I love receiving your emails 😆 so PLEASE keep them coming, they keep me grinning when life gets me down!”

  • “Dan don't change anything you don't know how much you have helped me on my worse days.”

  • “Please just keep doing what your doing don't change.”

  • “I think sometimes people forget their inner child, and because of that, life becomes dull and dreary, and as a result we forget the simplest of things can become an absolute joy. Not to mention bloody funny.”

  • “You’re better than any medicine that's prescribed  ❤️🏴❤️”

  • “I was feeling a bit low until I got this of you it made me feel better once again thank you Dan”

  • “I don't think you know how much you are appreciated”

  • “Your site does me the world of good, brilliant distraction.”

  • “I don't think you realise the impact you have on  people's mental wellbeing and I thank you for that”

  • "Your emails are a ray of sunshine on days when life is bleak, so thank you!"

What you get when you buy something

If you buy a rude card or gift from Mr. Inappropriate, it sounds silly, but you’re buying a feeling.

If you’re like me you have a good sense of humour and are proud of it, but given how the world is now, it’s hard to express (and get away with it).

In giving a naughty gift to a loved one, you’re showing them that you really are as funny as they think you are.  Not only are you giving them a giggle but you’re giving yourself a little bit of silent pride.

A feeling of a job well done.  You made them happy, they admire your sense of humour and ability to find a gift they’ve never seen before.

The following quotes from recent reviews give an idea how other customers have felt after buying from us.

Our blog

In our blog I discuss many things, all of which have the same purpose: to make you feel happier!

This is split up into sections, the first is a series of stories which I also send to our email members, the second is a set of articles about mental wellbeing, the third talks about the gifts we sell and the forth talks about our winners.

What about social media?

Yep there is a Facebook page and Instagram account but they’re not especially active as I can’t really get away with sharing my products there.

I do however share some funny stuff and people converse a little.

Would you like to be involved?

We’re always looking for lovely lively people, so if you’d like to be involved, make some money and get free stuff, please get in touch!

There are two main ways to be involved; you could either be an ambassador or an affiliate. If however you have another suggestion, please get in touch :)

As an affiliate it’s a simple transactional relationship; you’ll get a unique link for the website which you can share with your friends and followers.  When they use this link, everything on the website is normal except when they check out they’ll get an exclusive 25% discount, and you get 20% of the sale.

This money will be transferred to your PayPal or bank account at an agreed interval.

We will of course be here to help in any way you need and give you product and advertising material to make your job easy, so don’t worry, it really isn’t a lot of work!

As an ambassador on the other hand, although you’ll get the same personal link, it’s more of a partnership.

You’ll be involved in some of our design decisions, you’ll get exclusive access to new products and will get regular free gifts.

We will be in regular contact and you’ll help us promote our brand through the mediums that suit you best.

If you have a following who would be interested in buying our products, this could be a very easy way for you to make some extra money, and for us it’s cheaper than paying for Google or Facebook ads.

Plus we'll have a giggle!
