Something silly, playful, suggestive or even a bit shocking.
The word ‘naughty’ describes something silly, playful and a little bit wrong. It could be something as simple as eating some chocolate before dinner, or something more extreme such as playing with yourself in public. Either way, it’s doing something you know you shouldn’t.
Given that definition it’s easy to see how this applies to gifts. A naughty gift is something that the recipient probably wouldn’t want other people to see; it’s probably for some sort of private use. Or maybe it is something to be used in public, but regardless it’s likely to be something that refers to some sort of bodily function or sexual act.
You can buy most sorts of things as a naughty gift; mugs, clothing, candles or whatever. The difference is the message or imagery on them.
Summary
I think the main thing that separates these items from others is that they are intended to refer to some sort of act (usually sexual) or bodily function (such as farting or weeing), and they are often also intended for private use. Most often they are bought with the intention of being funny and provocative rather than disgusting.

What naughty gifts are
I think there are two aspects to this:
The subject matter it refers to (such as sex), and
Whether it is for private use or not.
I think both of these aspects are important because an item referring to sex isn’t really considered naughty if someone is happy to display it in public.
Naturally there is a spectrum here; some items are only slightly suggestive but could be seen by others in the right context and others are so extremely explicit that absolutely must be kept hidden away until the time is right!
This seems pretty obvious when you think about it; either the purchaser wants something fun or silly for themselves, or they want to give someone else a fun experience with the item they have bought. In fact when someone asks Mr Inappropriate about this, I am tempted to say ‘isn’t it obvious?’. But I don’t because there is another reason that seems more common than I first thought: they want an excuse to do something fun.
It seems odd doesn’t it? Surely anyone can just go and do whatever they want at any time? Not really. If somebody has been brought up with certain beliefs about what is right and wrong, those thoughts will always be there at some level even if they believe they have overcome them. This means that if they want to try out a new experience such as buying a sexy item, there will always be those thoughts in their mind saying ‘don’t do that!’.
This means that if someone has an excuse for doing something like this, all responsibility is removed from them because ‘it wasn’t my idea!’. It sounds silly but this really does affect people even though most don’t realise.
Who buys naughty gifts and who for?
As discussed above, sometimes people buy them for themselves but normally it is as a present for someone else. This could either be one partner buying for another so they can have some fun together, or maybe one friend buying for another just for fun; maybe as part of a birthday party or hen party or similar event where lots of other people will see what is being opened.
What sort of naughty gift should I buy?
This really does depend on who you are buying for (see above) but typically if you know what the recipient likes then it's pretty easy: just choose an item related to whatever that thing is. If you're not sure then that's fine too - it's easy enough just to guess when the intended use is likely just them by themselves (if it's part of couple play then you'll need both people involved). A lot of our customers choose an item with some kind of strong smell which almost always works well. How much should I spend on a naughty gift?
This depends on your budget and also whether it's likely they'll want more than one thing - if so it's best not so spend too much on one thing otherwise you'll not have enough left over. If it's possible they'll enjoy several things then clearly you'll need more than one item - we've made picking easy by creating packs designed specifically for different types of person (based on what we've heard from our customers). These packs include several different items at a discount price so they're worth checking out if you're unsure. One thing we have noticed actually is that most customers choose several items even if they're buying for themselves. Presumably they're trying out different ones rather than getting lots all at once. To help with this we've created several sample packs each with three samples which makes it easier (and cheaper) than buying individual bottles separately. So in summary I'd say don't spend too much unless you're confident about what they'll like - it's better to try more than one type until you find what works best.
