So what?
Nowhere is it more difficult to find a gift than for someone who is a lesbian. All the usual silly and amusing gifts simply don’t work; you have to take an entirely different approach and think much more about what they’d like. It’s not as easy as just getting something pink, or something that smells nice, you have to think carefully about the type of person they are and what they might like.
The main reason I say this is because the idea of being a lesbian is so simple, and really says nothing about the person other than their sexual preference. I know that it’s possible to generalise, but this is not at all helpful when buying a gift. For example, you could say that most lesbians prefer women, but then that doesn’t help at all; lots of straight women also prefer women.
A similar point can be made about choosing a gift for a man; again the only thing you can really say is that they’re probably less interested in clothes than most women are. Yes, I know some men are obsessed with shoes and handbags but it’s still safe to say that most aren’t.
So what do I buy?
I would say that your best plan is to forget about the fact that they’re a lesbian and focus on who they are. If they happen to be someone who likes pink things or nice smelling things then go for that, but if not, then don’t.
Another thing to consider is whether or not the recipient wants everyone to know about their sexuality. You could argue that being gay or lesbian should be regarded as normal by now, but sadly this isn’t the case in all circles. So first consider whether or not she wants people to know about it before you give her some obviously-lesbian gift.
So yes, maybe buy some rainbow-themed gift or something with a picture of another lady on it, but only if she actually wants one.
