The best gift for a coworker
Share
Overview
The best gift for a coworker is usually something that is fairly harmless and universally liked. Assuming you don’t know this person very well, you’ll have to choose something that most people like. The problem with that is that gifts that are liked by most people are rarely loved by anyone and are often pretty boring.
So how do I choose a gift?
First you need to think about the recipient, then decide what sort of present is best. Do you want to get something funny? Or something useful? Or something beautiful? Most good things are at least one of those. If it’s none of those the chances are it’s not very good.
Things that are not very good aren’t very good.
So don’t get them.
Instead, I’d probably get something good.
So once you’ve thought about the recipient and decided which type of present to get, you just need to pick something. This bit shouldn’t be too hard. Assuming that this person is not your friend and you don’t want to have special time with them, it doesn’t really matter that much.
There are a couple of exceptions though. Maybe you’ll be giving this gift in front of the whole team, in which case you might want to make a statement. Maybe you want to show them all how amazingly creative you are, how how awesome your sense of humour is….
