Introduction
Anniversaries are important, especially for men, but why is that? Simple really, it’s all about the power play in your relationship. In most relationships the woman is in charge and if the man doesn’t do things right he’ll be in trouble. Anniversaries are one of those things that men have to get right otherwise they’ll suffer the consequences.
So, from a woman’s point of view, it’s easy: relax, wait for him to buy you something and then see if he gets it right or not. If he does, great! If not, you can make him suffer for a bit which is always fun!
From his point of view however, it involves planning and guessing and worrying about whether or not he’ll get it right.
What does this mean for you?
Well firstly I suppose I must say congratulations on being together for however long it’s been! Whether it’s one year or twenty-one years it’s something to be celebrated.
Secondly though, you need to think about whether or not he’ll be expecting a gift from you. As I said above he’ll probably assume that it’s all about him buying a gift for you and that you won’t get him anything.
Of course, this could work in your favour as whatever you get (even if it’s just a small cheap thing) will be unexpected so will have more impact.
What sort of gift should I get?
As with most gifts, there are three main things to consider:
- What sort of thing does he like?
- What sort of thing do I want to give?
- How much do I want to spend?
The first two points are clear; some men like very rude gifts and others would prefer something more subtle or funny. Similarly with you; do you want to give him something really silly or playful or something nice that he can keep forever?
In terms of how much to spend; again think about what sort of person he is – would he appreciate something small and fun or would he expect something more valuable?
