Overview

Birthday cards can be a lovely way to celebrate someone's special day, express your affection, and have some fun at the same time. There are all sorts of birthday cards available, ranging from sweet to silly, so you can easily find one that fits the recipient.

Types of birthday card

You can buy a card online or in many shops on your local high street. Take a look at our suggestions below for inspiration.

  • Sweet and loving - these can be nice if you want to make someone feel special.
  • Funny and light-hearted - a great choice for friends and people you'd like to have some fun with.
  • Naughty or rude - great for close friends who would enjoy the humour.
  • Personalised or custom - a good option for someone who would appreciate something unique.

Where to find the right card?

If you visit a shop on your local high street you'll probably see some generic cards which might be OK, but they usually lack personality. If you search online though you'll find many specialist retailers (like us) who have a much wider range of designs to choose from. Many will offer customisation options too so you can make it more personal.

What to write in it?

This depends on what the recipient will enjoy reading. If they're sensitive or easily offended it's probably best to keep it light-hearted and fun rather than offensive or rude. If they're close friend though, they might really like a cheeky message!

If you're struggling for inspiration, take a look at our message suggestion page which has loads of examples.

After 25+ years juggling IT and management, Dan realized that many people (including friends, family, and coworkers) were grappling with anxiety and stress brought on by modern life. Determined to offer some comic relief, he founded Mr. Inappropriate, an online store for wonderfully rude and funny adult gifts and cards. Through weekly true stories, naughty product lines, and genuine one-on-one connections with customers, Dan’s mission is to help people safely push social boundaries, share a good laugh, and discover that being a bit “inappropriate” can be surprisingly therapeutic. A proud Yorkshire resident, Dan remains steadfast in his belief that humour is one of the best ways to escape the pressures of everyday life, and that a well-timed, mischievous gift can often o more good than any pill.
